5 Reasons the 2015 Open Championship Will Be Phenomenal

1. Jordan Spieth's quest for the Grand Slam--After victories at The Masters and U.S. Open this year, Spieth is on a quest for golf's Grand Slam (victories in all four Majors in the same year). It's only the fourth time since 1958 that the same player has won both of the year's first two majors. The odds are against Spieth, but this dynamic young Texan seems to have the game and resolve to make a serious run at professional golf's ultimate achievement. His amazing journey continues at this year's Open Championship at St. Andrews.

2. Fantastic field
--The world's best and hottest players like Spieth, McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson will be there along with popular past champions like Tiger Woods, John Daly, Phil Mickelson, Nick Faldo and David Duval.

3. Spectacular setting
--Home to the Royal and Ancient Golf Club (R & A), the 144th Open Championship will be contested on the Old Course, the world's most recognizable golf course. Dripping with history on every hole, the course's images like the Swilcan Bridge and the famous Road Hole (Number 17) are legendary even with golfer's who've never set foot on the course. Golf was first played on the Old Course more than 600 years ago.

4. Open Championship at St. Andrews produces great winners
--In its 28 Opens, St. Andrews has produced some stunning performances. In recent memory, Tiger's wins in 2000 and 2005, Daly's unexpected triumph in 1995 and Nick Faldo's record setting performance in 1990 were fantastic Open's to watch at the Old Course.

5. Tom Watson's presumably last Open Championship
--Five-time Open Championship winner Tom Watson, a huge crowd favorite in Scotland, has received a special exemption from the R & A to play in St. Andrews. Unless Watson finishes in the top 10 at this year's Open, this probably will be his last one. (Past champions who finish in the top 10 are exempt for five years).
